A very important part of Punkt’s practice involves the creation of workshops to explore different aspects of collaborative theatre-making with students.

We have run workshops with The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Young Vic Genesis Network. Here you can find a selection of our current workshops.

The Role of the Dramaturg in the Devising Process

This practical online workshop examines the director-dramaturg relationship in the devising process. It combines networking and working in small groups for its double purpose: 1) get directors and dramaturgs to connect and 2) explore each of their roles in devising. The end goal is to spark connection, collaboration, and conversation around the role of dramaturgs beyond new writing and literary management.

The workshop is designed for a group of directors and dramaturgs who will work in pairs on a devised adaptation of a well-known story using a specific lens. Participants will go through the process of preparation, devising with actors, and script compilation.

Next date: December 8th 2020 (online).

Sign up via this link before December 4th. Limited places.

Shakespeare, Gender, and Collective Adaptation

This practical in-person workshop focuses on working with classical texts as a devising collective. Using Shakespeare texts as a starting point, participants explore a non-hierarchical method for collective adaptation, using a range of tools including shadow work, projections, and the live body in space.

What you can expect from the workshop:

  • Practice building a collective/ensemble

  • Learn more about non-hierarchical collective adaptation and The Origami Method

  • Gain practical skills and an opportunity to create work using different media

  • Learn and practice dramaturgy, writing, and performance of the self

This workshop was first developed as part of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's Advanced Theatre Practice MFA program.

Next date: TBA
